City Judge
Judge Sherry Paty is elected to the office of City Court Judge by the voters of Chattanooga and was sworn in as Judge on August 20, 2004. Judge Paty is a lifelong resident of Chattanooga.
Judge Paty is a graduate of Hixson High School. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Judge Paty then attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she obtained her law degree in 1989.
As part of her experience, Judge Paty served as the law clerk for the Hamilton County District Attorney in 1988 and the Judicial Law Clerk for Chancellors Howell Peoples and R. Vann Owens from 1989 to 1990.
Judge Paty has been in private practice with the law firm of Paty, Rymer and Ulin since 1990. In 2001, Judge Paty received her credentials to serve as a Rule 31 Family Mediator from the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Judge Paty has invested her time and talents in this community as a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Hosanna Community.
Judge Paty is the first female City Court Judge.
